Flatulence

Flatulence is the expansion of your dog's stomach or intestines with gas. Flatus usually referred to as "gas" or "farts" is the gas debarred from the body opening. The word flatulence is also used to refer to the discharge of intestinal gas through the anus.

Gas assembly or accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is normal. Extreme production may not be analytical of any specific disorder. However, in certain gastrointestinal diseases of dogs, the normal production of gas may be raised and extreme flatulence may result. Almost all gastro-intestinal gas comes from either swallowed air or from air produced by bacterial fermentation and processing of ingested nutrients. Any condition that leads to rise in these gases can cause flatulence. Over ninety-nine % of gas is odorless, and less than 1 % accounts for the odor we often connect or link with flatulence.

Causes of Flatulence


Dog having flatulence problems can lead to a very embarrassing situation. Below are some of the reasons that cause flatulence in dogs.

  2. Bacterial build up
  3. Constipation
  4. Dietary intolerance or allergy to food
  5. Improper metabolism
  6. Insufficient gastric enzymes secretions
  7. Aerophagia (swallowing air)
  8. Malabsorptive disorders (diseases that cause difficulty absorbing nutrients)
  9. Gastrointestinal cancer

Tips for preventing flatulence

  1. Take away your dog’s food after some time if it is not over. Fasting all through the day is extremely vital for effectual digestion and detoxification.
  2. Make sure your dog is taking a balanced, high eminence diet with ample of raw and natural food. Flatulence problems are often solved by a alteration in diet.
