Joint and muscles plays the most essential aspect in making our body move. These are the backbone of our locomotary system. These makes a frame work of the all the visible movements as well as the invisible movements that occur in our body. Any problems in joint and muscles can make our body struck to one place. Even our pets are susceptible to such conditions. Below are some conditions that are presented when there is muscle and joints abnormality in our body.
- Stiffness of whole body especially after relaxation
- Uncomfortable while getting up

There are many factors by which your pet can develop joint or muscle tribulations. Sprains and strains are fairly frequent in many active animals and certain animals may be more susceptible to this than others.
Cats in particular may have 9 lives (as per a belief) but their continuous leaping from roofs and trees can put stress and strain on their joints, in particular if they are over weight.
There are also some diseases or condition such as arthritis (an inflammation of the joints) spinal diseases such as spondylosis, spondylitis and hip dysplasia (a deformity of the hip's ball and socket that is more frequent in dogs but may sway certain breeds of cats also).
Certain breeds of pets may be hereditarily more prone to developing such conditions.
Ashwagandha - Ashwagandha is an herb that is found growing wild in Indian subcontinent. It is found in areas having moderate to warm climatic conditions. It is a bushy herb that is found at the altitude of 1000 to 5000 feet. It belongs to solanaceae family and as per ayurvedic terminology is concerned it is a member of kantkari kul. Charak Samhita, the ayurvedic book of medicine has listed it in the gann (group) that deals in balya, brihniye and madhurskand that means a group that makes body energetic and powerful.
Shallaki - Shallaki or Boswellia serrata is a natural and safe herb for best joint health. It has conventionally been used as incense because of its fragrant properties. One active constituent, Boswellic Acid, is a pyrazoline derivative shown to be very effectual in supporting healthy joints. Like its cousin Guggul, Boswellia has many cholesterol and triglyceride lowering properties. One of the principal constituents in the gum resin is boswellic acid which exhibits anti-inflammatory activity.
Guggul – guggul is botanically known as Commiphora mukul. Guggul is gum or resins, extracted from Commiphora mukul plant according to the Ayurvedic Science. It is one of the most suggested herb in Ayurveda for joint and muscular dysfunction. It is conventionally used to cure Rheumatoid Arthritis, Musculo skeletal disorders, Osteo Arthritis.
Nirgundi – Nirgundi is botanically known as Vitex negundo. Nirgundi has been used since centuries to decrease inflammation and swelling of joints caused due to due to rheumatism and injuries. Nirgundi has many medicinal uses since ancient times.
Tips
- Keeping your pet at its ideal weight will assist to avert overload on his joints.
- Pet's diet needs to contain sufficient protein for building muscles and sufficient calcium for strong bones.
- General exercise is necessary for keeping joints flexible and muscles and ligaments strong. It will also help in avoiding obesity.
- Remove food of your pet after a while if it has not eaten it all.
- Make sure that your pet is eating a balanced diet with plenty of raw and natural food.
- Filtered or bottled water is preferable to chlorinated or fluorinated water.
- Avoid contact to toxins and chemicals as much as probable including pesticides, herbicides, commercial flea collars, flea powder, insecticides and second-hand cigarette smoke.
- Food and water bowls should be made of glass, stainless steel or porcelain.
