Epilepsy or Seizures

Witnessing your loved dog or cat having a seizure can be a most terrifying incident. Throughout seizures pets often lose control, fall over, chomp their teeth, salivate or drool, whine, paddle with their feet and start to urinate or defecate on themselves. Their eyes turn out to be large (dilated) and insensitive. A pet care giver feels terrified and helpless while seeing this all happen.

Even though seizures are often deliberation of dramatic events, there are a variety of different types of seizures, some of which may come into view to be fairly subtle.

A generalized seizure commonly known as grand mal is usually causes an acute reduction in state of realization, repeated actions of the body, extreme salivation, vomiting and often an uncontrolled bladder and bowel control. This occasion may last from thirty seconds to few minutes. It is usually followed by a phase of drowsiness, trouble walking or seeing as well as changes in performance which can last around a day.

The other chief type of seizure is a focal motor seizure which is a much less vivid in incidence. A focal motor attack will cause just a frequent twitching movement in either the face or limbs and generally only lasts a few seconds. These types of seizures may often go ignored particularly if they engage fairly harmless movements like swallowing.
